My Farewell

So I made the decision earlier this month to finally get off Twitter.  So,
since it’s the end of the year, I’m peacing out on Twitter, and I haven’t
made one of these in a while, I thought I’d make one last Mixtape.  So here
it is and farewell Twittah.

The Final Weekend Mixtape!!! 2/13/2010

I’ve been doing the Weekend Mixtape for quite a while now.  And this is it.  The last one.  I’ve given myself a specific amount of time to do all of this, and that time is up.  I’ve enjoyed the feedback I’ve received for the tracks I’ve shared with all of you.  So here’s to you exploring more and enjoying more music.  Cheers.

This week: The Most Serene Republic, Walter Meego, Mew, Circa Survive, As Tall As Lions, The Cure, and more.

Be safe, and have a Happy un-lonely Valentine’s Day.

“In Flight” by Amusement Parks On Fire

When the debts arrive,
the sun is gonna burst in the sky
Around the fire light,
unaware, we’ll send up the last night

And the air on the outside,
won’t ever pay for,
all the air on the other side,
that we never asked for

If the world was in flight,
what did you wait for,
if the world isn’t gonna end?

When the debts arrive,
how many won’t side?
When the debts arrive,
you are the first light

All you’d ever right,
is to be no more in my mind
Blinded by the light,
unaware, you’ll send up the last night

And the air on the outside,
won’t ever pay for,
all the air on the other side,
that we never asked for

If the world was in flight,
what did you wait for,
if the world isn’t gonna end?

When the debts arrive,
how many won’t side?
When the debts arrive,
you are the first light

When the debts arrive…

And the air on the outside,
won’t ever pay for,
all the air on the other side,
that we never asked for

If the world was in flight,
what did you wait for,
if the world isn’t gonna end?

When the debts arrive,
how many won’t side?
When the debts arrive,
you are the first light

When the debts arrive…

“Silvia” by Miike Snow

Reach the city steps tonight
Following the power lines
Met a man barside,
with eclipses for eyes

And you tell yourself you won’t let them touch
Did I say too much?
Did I say enough?
I don’t know, Silvia
I don’t know, Silvia

Circle round the room still
Have fun breaking my will
Know I can’t have you here
Someone else on your skin

And it’s all my fault for not getting off
So you made it start,
can you make it stop?
You don’t know, Silvia
You don’t know, Silvia

Reach the city steps tonight
Following the power lines
And your skin is so white,
underneath the black night

And your voice cries out for the Coup de grace
And the lights go out
Will there be a trace…
…that I loved Silvia?

“Milk and Honey” by As Tall As Lions

I’m sick of waking up alone
Honey, I’m pleading
Let’s put away the sticks and stones,
be human beings

‘Cause I have the sense,
to be afraid, to be a fool

You push me out,
you push me out again
You push me up,
you push me up against the wall

You told me once your body flowed,
with milk and honey
What ever happened to our boy,
inside your tummy?

Well, I have the sense,
to be afraid, to be a fool
But I’m on the fence,
to make you stay, or to be cruel

You push me out,
you push me out again
You push me up,
you push me up against the wall

You perfume-covered, helpless louse,
look on the bright side
See, every time you laugh out loud,
I’m crying inside

But, I have the sense,
to be afraid, to be the fool
Try common sense
Make me believe
Believe in you ‘cause…

I should have known,
you’d kick me hard when I’m on the ground

“Superpowers” by The Dismemberment Plan

I have seen the world’s most beautiful women undress in ordinary solitude
I have fallen asleep in the shift of distant satin
I have watched the rich risk it all for 15 minutes in a Heathrow bathroom
I have shuddered as an unseen mouth slid down my spine every night

I have seized with the ice cold rage of a lover betrayed,
half a million miles away
I have cried so hard for hours and not known why,
I never do
I’ve been knocked down flat by joy that makes my face pulse like a sugar high
I’ve been cornered by the screams of a body as it freed itself of its mind

I guess you could call it “superpowers”,
but no one is going to save the world with what I’ve got
An indigo light from silvery towers,
surrounded by rocks and stones as far as the eye can see

I’ve been lost in a cold white space as an arrogant dream,
storms in from another life
I have felt the snaps of lines that bind us all to this world
I have felt such unreal pain and not known what to do,
it isn’t mine
I have stayed awake for weeks and slept for days…
Not one dream

I guess you could call it “superpowers”,
but no one is going to save the world with what I’ve got
An indigo light from silvery towers,
surrounded by rocks and stones as far as the eye can see,
under low grey skies,
and a razored wind that tears at the walls

“One” by Sunny Day Real Estate

And it’s strange,
how we’re wasting our lives
Novacaine,
when the pain helps us rise, here we stay

Though it’s only a clever game
Running from our lives
And we linger on
But if we try,
to lift up our eyes
Replacing the lies
We own this moment

Everything and everyone,
and in the end we all are one
Truth will not be denied

And it’s strange,
how we’re selling our time and we wait

We are lost in a clever game
Running from our lives
And they lead us on
But if we try,
to lift up our eyes
Replacing the lies
We own this moment

Everything and everyone,
and in the end we all are one
Truth will not be denied

“Your Time Is Near” by Caesars

Well it took a long time but you’ve finally worn out your smile
That’s when I knew it,
I’d run out of borrowed time
You always used to say that you could learn a lot from wasting time
And that if you look hard,
you’ll see yourself in your lovers eyes

Your time is near,
it won’t be long
You’ve got to go when you’re called upon
No light of day,
no sight of dawn
Don’t turn around, just walk right on

You came riding into town in a black and red 5/10
Said, “I’ll be your captain,
and take you back home again”
It’s the third time around but you know I’ll get a second wind
But if we ever get there,
they’ll be no one there to let us in

Your time is near,
it won’t be long
You’ve got to go when you’re called upon
No light of day,
no sight of dawn
Don’t turn around, just walk right on

Packed up my souvenirs, tied my shoes, and sold my car
Yes, I should have known it,
I’d never get very far
Ever since we’ve met you’ve been a hungry and a restless child
You’re just like your father
You know he’s got a poison mind

Your time is near,
it won’t be long
You’ve got to go when you’re called upon
You said you and me, we’d never will pretend
But a broken soul is never gonna mend

“Breakers” by As Tall As Lions

Tell me what we’re doing here
Today is the tomorrow,
and yesterday I feared
You’re force-feeding us white lies
Pulling strings on my back
I should’ve known from the start,
nothing good ever lasts

The end is gonna come
(It’s starting, it’s starting, it’s starting)
And where it started from…

Faded
There ain’t nothing left
The clouds crop this city,
and all the widows wept
I’ve got my hands and feet tied
You’ve got your foot on my back
I should’ve known from the start,
how my body would act

The end is gonna come
(It’s starting, it’s starting, it’s starting)
And where it started from
It’s where it started
The end is gonna come

If all alone,
it came to me,
now I’ll surely believe
If all alone,
it came to me,
my love, you’ll see

“Time Bomb” by The Dismemberment Plan

Well I…
I am a time bomb, and I…
I lay forgotten at the bottom of your heart…
I’m fine,
ticking away the hours to I blow your world apart

I…
I am a poison, and I…
I am still coursing through your bloodstream like a ghost,
like wine,
gathering vintage for the day I hurt the most

I…
I am a land mine, and I…
I lay on the soil burned out by battles you thought you’d won
I’ve got time,
to wait for the footsteps,
of a memory that’s on the run

Well I…
I am a tar pit, and I…
I swell like a living thing,
all at the slightest touch
A black grime,
Swallowing everything
A cold and timeless clutch

I…
Well I am a trip wire, and I…
I’m stretching across the road you’re barreling down tonight
A thinish twine,
waiting to be released right beyond your sight

I…
Well I am a fault line and I…
I’m pulling apart the ground that lay beneath your newest seed,
so fine,
I’m moving in inches now
A crawling, a cutting, a cleaning,
like a knife

Well I…
I am a time bomb, and I…
I only live in that one moment in which you die
It’s not right
It’s not what I wanted then,
but you know and I know, there’s no going back

I…
I am a lost soul, and I…
I send out a sickened light for anyone to see
A cry for help,
a warning to stay away
The burning, the blinding, the bleaching,
a death masked white

“What Do You Want Me To Say” by The Dismemberment Plan

I lost my membership card to the human race
So don’t forget the face,
because I know that I do belong here
Go down the checklist, let’s see:
Feelings are good,
dishonesty is bad,
and keeping it inside is worse still
You want a problem, well I guess we got one now
I really don’t know how
There’s injuns over every goddamn hill

What do you want me to say?
What do you want me to do,
to let you know that I do mean it?
What do you want me to say?
What do you want me to do,
to let you know that I do mean it?
What do you want me to say?

I see it coming from a million miles away
What else can I say?
The only way you know I love you
And there’s no eye-to-eye, just Moses on the mount,
or I’m in for the count
You need your man above or below you
I cannot cry at will but I do wish I could,
‘cause it’d do you some good,
when every joke I make is treason
There was a time when you could make me laugh at will,
and you can do it still,
but never is it for the right reasons

What do you want me to say?
What do you want me to do,
to let you know that I do mean it?
What do you want me to say?
What do you want me to do,
to let you know that I do mean it?
What do you want me to say?
What do you want to hear,
to let you know that I do mean it?
What do you want me to say?

“Warning Sign” by Coldplay

I’m no longer a fan of Coldplay.  For various reasons.  But I heard this today, and it was worth passing on.  Cheers.

A warning sign,
I missed the good part then I realized,
I started looking and the bubble burst
I started looking for excuses

Come on in,
I’ve gotta tell you what a state I’m in,
I’ve gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
that I started looking for a warning sign

When the truth is,
I miss you
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so

A warning sign,
You came back to haunt me and I realized,
you were an island and I passed you by
You were an island to discover

Come on in,
I’ve gotta tell you what a state I’m in,
I’ve gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
that I started looking for a warning sign

When the truth is,
I miss you
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so

And I’m tired,
I should not have let you go

So I crawl back into your open arms
Yes, I crawl back into your open arms
And I crawl back into your open arms
Yes, I crawl back into your open arms

“Pale September” by Fiona Apple

Pale September
I wore the time like a dress that year
The autumn days swung soft around me,
like cotton on my skin
But as the embers of the summer lost their breath and disappeared,
my heart went cold and only hollow rhythms resounded from within
But then he rose, brilliant as the moon in full
And sank in the burrows of my keep

And all my armour falling down,
in a pile at my feet
And my winter giving way to warm,
as I’m singing him to sleep

He goes along just as a water lily
Gentle on the surface of his thoughts his body floats
Unweighed down by passion or intensity
Yet unaware of the depth upon which he coasts
And he finds a home in me
For what misfortune sows, he knows my touch will reap

And all my armour falling down,
in a pile at my feet
And my winter giving way to warm,
as I’m singing him to sleep

“Baby Can’t Stop” (Aeroplane Remix) by Lindstrøm & Christabelle

A little bit of a tushy-shaker for your Friday.
